The Gass Forest Museum in Coimbatore is considered as one of the most interesting natural history museums in Tamil Nadu where it combines history, science, and culture in a single roof. Its campus in the Forest college on Cowley brown road is more than 100 years old as a center of learning.
The History and Architecture
The museum began in 1902 due to Horace Arichibald Gass, who was at that time, the Conservator of Forests. On its inauguration, it was referred to as the Forest Museum at Coimbatore but later named after him in 1905. The current construction is completed 1915 in British Gothic style using red stones and imported iron pillars lending timelessness to the building. It is resistant to seismic active influences and at the same time has a very beautiful design with the strength of resistance.

Visitor Information
- Timings: Monday to Friday 9:00 AM 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM 5:00 PM. Closed on weekends and state holidays.
- Entry Charges: 40 ( Indians), 20 ( Children), 200 ( Foreign Nationals).
